Further outbreak of bee disease in Hof-Moschendorf

In another apiary in Hof-Moschendorf (plot number 461/3), American foulbrood - a notifiable, infectious bee disease that only affects the brood but is harmless to humans - has once again been detected.

Due to the current discovery, the city of Hof is expanding the existing restricted area, which was established by general decree on May 27, 2025. The extension affects the area around the newly affected location.

The following measures continue to apply within the entire restricted area:

  • No bees, honeycombs, wax, food supplies, honey for feeding, bee dwellings or used beekeeping equipment may be taken out of or into the restricted area or transported.
  • The movement of bee colonies into or out of the restricted zone is also prohibited.

The general ruling of May 27, 2025 remains valid. The second general ruling dated June 5, 2025, which regulated the first extension, also remains valid. The new amendment comes into force on June 11, 2025. The aim of the measures is to prevent the further spread of American foulbrood and to effectively protect the health of bee populations in Hof and the surrounding area.
