Explosion in a garbage truck

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, an explosion occurred in a garbage truck on Schollenteichstraße at around 7:30 am. Three people suffered minor injuries. The two refuse collectors and the driver are doing well under the circumstances. Passers-by were not injured.

The explosion occurred when a waste container was being loaded into the vehicle's swap body. The police were informed immediately after the incident and are now investigating the cause of the explosion. Further information on the incident will be provided in due course.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the emergency services for their support and rapid response on site," said Mayor Eva Döhla.

Waste disposal is currently being continued by a replacement vehicle. The residents of Hof are asked to continue to put their garbage cans out for collection.
