Emergency boxes at the Hofer Land care center

Many people keep important medical information at home, but in an emergency it is often impossible for emergency services to find. This is exactly where the so-called "emergency box" comes in - a simple but effective solution that can save lives in an emergency and is known to all emergency services.
This small, appropriately designed plastic box is filled with an emergency information sheet and, if necessary, other important medical documents and contact details of relatives and placed in the refrigerator door of the respective household. This complements existing emergency systems, such as the home emergency call or mobile emergency call devices.
The emergency box is particularly important in households with people in need of care. In an emergency situation, those affected or their relatives are not always able to pass on important information about their state of health, medication or other people in the household who need help. If the person concerned is even unconscious or unconscious, they can no longer provide any information themselves. The Hofer Land care support point in the care control center therefore repeatedly points out the advantages of the emergency box during its consultations.
"The procedure with the emergency box has proven itself and is known to all emergency services throughout Germany," emphasizes care advisor Kathrin Hücherig from the Hofer Land care support centre. "Two stickers are also supplied with the box - one to be affixed to the door of the house or apartment and one to the door of the refrigerator in which the emergency box is located. This is particularly important because the paramedics are not allowed to simply search the household for information or documents. They are only allowed to search for an emergency box in the fridge if the corresponding sticker is on the door." The stickers show emergency services that they will find important information in the fridge as soon as they enter the home. "The refrigerator was chosen as the standard storage location because it is assumed that every household in Germany has one and it is also easy to find."
As part of the cooperation between the Hochfranken Integrated Control Centre, the BRK Hof district association and the Hofer Land care support point, the relevance of the emergency box was therefore emphasized once again. As a sign of support, the BRK Kreisverband Hof donated one hundred emergency tins. The staff at the care support center will now pass these on to interested citizens in the Hofer Land region during their consultations.
"With this initiative, the Hofer Land Care Centre and the BRK Hof are jointly sending an important signal for safety and good emergency preparedness in the Hofer Land region," said District Administrator Dr. Oliver Bär and Alexandra Puchta, Head of the Hofer Land Care Centre.
