CO2 challenge starts in the Nuremberg metropolitan region

Anyone who takes part in the CO2 Challenge in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region contributes to climate protection every day.

From March 5 to 18, 2025, the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region is inviting people to take part in the annual CO2 Challenge - a participatory campaign that was awarded the Bavarian Climate Protection Prize 2024. The aim of the challenge is to reduce CO2 emissions through simple but effective changes in everyday life. From Ash Wednesday, a new task that can be easily and humorously integrated into everyday life will be published daily on the CO2 Challenge website and via the EMN's social media channels.

Participants can calculate their CO2 savings in a web app and collect sustainability points. Families, groups of friends or even individuals can measure themselves and compare their successes. The CO2 Challenge is aimed at anyone who wants to actively do something to protect the climate - whether in their shopping, heating or leisure activities.

The CO2 School Challenge is back again this year: school classes and youth groups can take part and incorporate climate protection into their lessons in a fun way. Two sets of materials (a lapbook for elementary school and a PowerPoint portfolio for secondary schools) offer schools simple and creative ways to tackle the topic. In principle, schools can take part all year round, depending on how it can best be integrated into everyday teaching - however, in order to take part in the competition, the results should be submitted electronically or by post by April 11, 2025.

There are also attractive prizes to be won for taking part in the challenge. Anyone wishing to take part in the competition should actively use the metropolitan region's social media channels and spread the word about the challenge.

Further information and registration options for the CO2 Challenge and the School Challenge can be found at www.co2challenge.net.
