Citizens' meeting in Moschendorf

70 residents of Hof took part in the first citizens' assembly of 2024.

Many participants with numerous questions and proposals

Last Tuesday, over 70 committed citizens of Hof gathered in the parish hall of the Church of the Resurrection in Moschendorf to take part in the first citizens' assembly of 2024. Questions and requests could be submitted in advance, which were answered personally on the evening by Mayor Eva Döhla and the heads of the divisions and the Managing Director of Stadtwerke Hof.

The agenda was well filled with a total of 59 questions and motions, which required efficient navigation through the various topics. Dr. Pascal Bächer, strategic advisor to the City of Hof, hosted the event. Some of the questions and motions stemmed from the meeting in fall 2023.

The topics

The range of topics discussed was broad, with the areas of construction and housing as well as traffic law emerging as the focal points.

Possible cuts to the federal social budget and their impact on Hof, issues relating to the cleaning and maintenance of public areas, measures by the public order office to combat illegal waste dumping, plans to redesign the recycling islands, improvements to road safety and infrastructure, including crossing aids for pedestrians, were all discussed. The geological garden was also discussed.

Long-term projects and plans were also discussed, including the planting of trees and orchards, the switch to LED street lighting and the promotion of solar balcony systems for low-income households.

The solutions

There are plans and solutions for many issues that the city of Hof is already implementing: for example, a conversion to LED by 2030 is already in progress, the upgrading of the park around the Bismarck Tower is already underway and will be supplemented by the redesign of the playground in 2024, more trees are being planted than felled and the construction of new toilets at the cemetery is at an advanced stage.

In order to get a better picture together with the residents of Hof, on-site appointments were arranged.

"We had four hours of intensive talks and discussions. The high level of participation shows the strong commitment of our community to shaping our city. We are taking the suggestions seriously and working together to find solutions for a future worth living in Hof," concluded Mayor Eva Döhla.

Any remaining questions will be answered by letter and on the website afterwards.
