Childcare Day - Lord Mayor says thank you
Childcare Day always takes place on the Monday after Mother's Day and many people across the country take this day of action as an opportunity to thank educational professionals and childcare staff for their commitment. Together with Carmen Siniawa from the City of Hof's daycare advisory service, Eva Döhla visited the St. Pius kindergarten on behalf of all daycare facilities to thank them personally. On this occasion, she pointed out the special importance of the profession for children, parents and society as a whole: "The teams in the daycare centers do an enormous amount for social development, education and integration in Hof. The children meet people here whom they can trust, who accompany them through their childhood and teach them valuable knowledge as well as important values such as justice, consideration and a culture of conversation."
A wide range of services in the city of Hof
The city of Hof has 29 daycare facilities run by 19 different providers, including two pure crèches, three pure after-school care centers, 13 kindergartens, some of which also have a crèche group, and eleven houses for children, i.e. daycare centers with kindergarten, crèche groups and, in some cases, after-school care groups. There are a total of 2198 places, of which 398 are pure crèche places, 1516 kindergarten places and 284 after-school care places. For primary school children, there are additional childcare options at the elementary school.
Of the 29 daycare centers in the city of Hof, five facilities also work on an integrative basis, so that children at risk of disability or children with disabilities can also be cared for together with other children. There are a total of 124 places here, 27 for crèche children/72 for kindergarten children and 25 for after-school children.
Some of the KiTas have different pedagogical orientations. There are some with a focus on Reggio education, Montessori education, a forest kindergarten, a bilingual KiTa, German and English as well as a Waldorf crèche and a Waldorf kindergarten.
There is also a movement kindergarten and an adventure kindergarten, which focus on adventure and movement. But the other KiTas also have different focuses and take part in different projects. For example, several daycare centers are certified as "Little Scientists' Houses" or are promoted as "Language Daycare Centers".
The aim of Childcare Day is to help give non-family childcare in Germany the status it deserves. The day of action was launched in 2012 and has since been held annually on the Monday after Mother's Day.
