Open casting for thriller "Gelber Rausch" in Hof

Hoferinnen and Hofer can apply for film roles.

On March 22 and 23, 2025, director and producer Daniel Hofmann is hosting an open casting for his new cab thriller "Gelber Rausch" at the Hoftex Event Hall. The city of Hof is following the film project with great interest and promoting creative exchange between filmmakers and the local population. Interested Hof residents have the unique opportunity to become part of a feature film and apply for one of the 13 supporting roles or two leading roles.

"Film thrives on authentic backdrops and people who identify with their town. I am delighted that Hof is the focus of this project. Our cultural department is in contact with the producers to support the project," says Eva Döhla, Mayor of Hof.

Daniel Hofmann, who celebrated great success in 2022 with his music documentary "Total Thrash - The Teutonic Story", has been working on the idea for "Gelber Rausch" for several years. The film tells the story of a cab driver whose last shift of the week turns into a suspenseful psychological thriller. In addition to gripping entertainment, the film also tackles socio-critical themes such as social inequality, beauty mania and consumer addiction.

For Hofmann, Hof is the ideal filming location: "During my stay at the last Hof Film Festival, I had a look at some of the sets and made some initial contacts. I myself grew up just 40 km from Hof - it's the perfect place for our project." Initial discussions have already taken place with the cultural office and Bavarian film funding.

The casting will take place on Saturday and Sunday, March 22 and 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Hoftex Event Hall (Schützenstraße 9, 95028 Hof). We are looking for 13 supporting roles and two leading roles for young actors and actresses. Interested parties can register in advance at www.gelberrausch.de/casting and receive further information about their desired role.
