On April 12, 2024, the Health Region Plus Hofer Land, together with the cooperation partners of the Local Alliance for People with Dementia in the Hofer Land, invited guests to the VHS Hofer Land. Around 50 guests found out about advice, training and participation services relating to dementia and care. District Administrator Dr. Oliver Bär and the Mayor of Hof, Eva Döhla, welcomed the senior citizens, relatives and people who would like to volunteer and thanked the dementia network, which has grown steadily in recent years and offers the affected families a wide range of support.

Martha Link, Alzheimer Gesellschaft Regionalgruppe Hof/Wunsiedel e.V., presented the upcoming training courses, the seminar series "Helping to help" for family caregivers starting on 22.4.24 and the training courses for volunteers to care for people with dementia in the home (starting on 6.5.24) and in clinics (starting on 15.5.24). Three former participants reported on their experiences to encourage the guests. One family caregiver said: "The shared exchange in the family caregiver training really encouraged me." Two other ladies were motivated to volunteer. "A lot of gratitude comes back".

While some guests obtained information from the advisors, others tried out sports taster courses. There was senior sports with Susanne Hübner, PTSV Hof, sport and exercise despite dementia with Claudia Infante, VHS Hofer Land, gymnastics with Beate Schaller, BRK Hof and Lu Jong - Tibetan healing yoga with Unja Jung.

The event concluded with a musical interlude by Matthias Dinkel on the grand piano as a foretaste of a dementia-friendly concert on 8.6.24 in the multi-generation house in Rehau.
