Bomb successfully defused

Update

The bomb, which was found today near the main train station in Hof, has now been successfully defused by the demolition squad from Munich. The bomb has been safely loaded and the evacuation area has been cleared again.

Numerous forces were on site during the entire operation: police, federal police, THW, BRK, fire department, the demolition squad from Munich, the civil protection officer of the city of Hof, members of the civil protection management group and contact persons from Deutsche Bahn.

Mayor Eva Döhla also personally accompanied the operation until it was successfully defused and thanked everyone involved for their efforts: "The smooth and professional cooperation of the more than 100 emergency services deserves special mention. Today once again impressively demonstrates that our emergency response system works well here in Hof."

Around 1000 people were affected by the evacuation. The BRK had set up a care center in the gymnasium of the Sophienschule, which was used by around 200 people. Drinks and seating were organized there for the evacuees from Hof. "The evacuation went without complications. We would like to thank all those affected for their cooperative behavior and patience," continued Eva Döhla.
