65 years of marriage together
Last week, Elfriede and Siegfried Krebs celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. The couple first met 66 years ago at the Kärwa dance in Leupoldsgrün. The spark was ignited at their second meeting at a tea dance in the Schützenhaus in Hof, a popular pub near the Freiheitshalle. The couple married after just one year.
They moved from Leupoldsgrün to Hof in 1975, exactly 50 years ago. They celebrated their iron wedding anniversary with their family over a cosy dinner. Mayor Eva Döhla personally conveyed the congratulations of the city of Hof.
Elfriede Krebs is no stranger to Hof. She was a city councillor for 24 years and was awarded the Bronze Medal of Municipal Merit in 2004. The city of Hof awarded her the Golden Citizens' Medal in September 2010. She was also involved in numerous voluntary organisations. With the support of her family, she organised the New Year's Eve ball in the ballroom of the Freiheitshalle for many years, countless events for the older generation, trips to the Finnish twin town of Joensuu and return visits from the twin town. She is still an active member of the German-Finnish Society Hof.
