33rd Hofer Land Children's Film Festival

The cooperation partners, the city of Hof, the district of Hof and the Central-Kino Hof, are once again looking forward to presenting visitors with a large selection of films and a varied supporting program from 8 to 9 February. Pascal Najuch-Schödel and Daniela Wenskus from the municipal youth work department of the city of Hof and Johannes Wurm, district youth worker for the district of Hof, will be supported by around 30 volunteers, including 14 children's presenters this year.
"The children's film festival has been an integral part of our diverse offering for children since 1990. With over 74,000 visitors since its inception, it shows how closely Hof is connected to film and how much cinema culture is appreciated here across all generations," says Mayor Eva Döhla.
Films
Visitors can once again look forward to 18 selected films. These include classics in a new guise such as "The Three???", animal films with guaranteed suspense such as "Ponyherz" or films with depth such as "Bleib am Ball - Egal was kommt!", which is about a young footballer who is suddenly confined to a wheelchair after an accident. His friends and he himself do not simply accept this, however, but fight to ensure that he can still take part in a major tournament.
Short film series "The first time at the movies"
On both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m., four short films for small children aged 3-4 will be shown in Cinema 2. District Administrator Dr. Oliver Bär: "We are delighted to be able to get even the youngest children excited about cinema. The film festival is also an important building block in our youth work, because we don't just want to provide young people with entertainment, but also give them valuable ideas to take home with them." The basic idea is to enable even very young moviegoers to visit the Kinderfilmfest and make their first visit to the cinema a special experience. The films are introduced and discussed in an age-appropriate manner. The short film series is free of charge for all guests.
Guests
It is a tradition of the Kinderfilmfest that young actors, directors and other filmmakers always come to Hof to answer the young moviegoers' questions about their films. Numerous well-known actors and actresses such as Matthias Schweighöfer and Christine Urspruch have already found their way to Hof.
Several film guests have already announced their attendance for 2025. The young actress Martha Haberland from the film "Ponyherz" will be traveling to Hof. Actors Leonard Conrads and Luis Vorbach will visit the Kinderfilmfest for the film "Die Schule der magischen Tiere 3".
Supporting program
The films will again be accompanied by a supporting program. Children can take individual or group photos in front of animated film backdrops using a green screen. The photos will be printed out directly on site. The backgrounds are based on the films shown this year. As has been the case for many years, there will also be a make-up corner with lots of motifs and templates. Pantoleur Dossi will also be there. The artist enchants young and old with a mixture of juggling, comedy, magic and entertainment. Performances on Saturdays and Sundays at lunchtime at different locations in the Central-Kino.
Audience prize
All visitors will receive tickets to vote for the Audience Award at the entrance. The films with the most positive ratings will receive the prize.
