130,000 euros in road construction funding for Hof

The government of Upper Franconia is promoting the improvement of the transportation infrastructure in the city of Hof.

The government of Upper Franconia is supporting the improvement of traffic infrastructure in the city of Hof with a grant of 130,000 euros. The approved funds will be used to redesign the junction near Pirk to improve road safety.

Joint project with the Bayreuth State Building Authority

As part of a joint project, the city of Hof and the Bayreuth State Building Authority have upgraded the accident-prone junction of the state road St 2461 and the municipal district road HOs 37 near Pirk. The aim of the measure was to improve traffic conditions and road safety.

As part of the expansion, a left-turn lane was added to the state road. In addition, the district road at the junction was redesigned so that it is less acute-angled.

Total costs and funding

The estimated total costs amount to around 1.14 million euros, the majority of which will be covered by the Free State of Bavaria as a stakeholder in the junction. The remaining share of the city of Hof amounts to around 175,000 euros, of which around 165,000 euros are eligible for funding. The approved funding amount of up to 130,000 euros means a maximum funding rate of 80 percent from the Bavarian Municipal Transport Financing Act (Art. 2 BayGVFG). The funds come from the Bavarian state budget and are provided by the Bavarian state parliament.

The construction work was already completed in September.
