Last Saturday, Mayor Eva Döhla officially opened the tourist season in Hof. All of Hof's tour guides came together around the town hall fountain to honor three of their long-standing colleagues.

Jörg Behrendt and Herbert Rösch each celebrated 30 years in their profession as tour guides. Night watchman Dieter Brandl was also retired. He has been guiding interested Hof residents and visitors from all over the world through Hof at night for 20 years. However, he will not stop completely, as he revealed on the fringes of the event.

Mayor Eva Döhla: "You have given us all unforgettable experiences and taken us back to the past before the great Hof town fire in 1823. We love listening to your stories, which is why I am now ringing in a new, colorful and turbulent city tour season with lots of joy and pleasure."

While Herbert Rösch thanked his guests for their bizarre questions, Jörg Behrendt emphasized the good cooperation with the city of Hof. He can still remember his first guided tour of the city, when he went to the Theresienstein for the State Garden Show: "The organization and the smooth support of the city have accompanied me in my work from the beginning of my career until today. Hof is a very special city."

The weekly market and Karolinenstraße were also bustling with activity, and market master Uwe Voigt is satisfied with the range of goods on offer from the traders. Thanks to the spring weather, the flea market attracted bargain hunters and antique lovers to the city center. From now on, it will open its stalls on the first Saturday of every month (May 4, June 1, July 6, August 3, September 7 and October 5) as well as during the Handmade Days on May 4 and 5, 2024 and the HofHaltig autumn market on September 28 and 29, 2024.

In addition to the city tours, Hof offers a total of over a dozen different topics. In addition to architecture, parks and gardens, there are informative walks about the Hof Film Festival, the poet Jean-Paul and the brand new "With risks and side effects", a city tour about the city's pharmacies. The tourist information office also offers special tours. For example, a beer tour with refreshments or the famous executioner and night watchman tours. The price for a tour is usually six euros.
