Freiheitshalle

Anyone passing through the Saale city for the first time in the evening will not pass the Hof Culture Mile without being amazed: Flanked by the theater with its spectacular glass architecture and the newly built KlangManufaktur, the Freiheitshalle with its blue glowing roof in breathtaking construction can be seen from afar.

The first festival hall on the Hofer Volksfestplatz was built in 1936 and was given its present name after the end of the Second World War. In 1974, it was redesigned as a sports hall in a second construction. In 2009, the Freiheitshalle was closed after more than 35 years of operation and was extensively renovated and extended by a partial new building.

Unique moments

Since September 2012, the reopened Freiheitshalle - with no less an event than the tour kick-off of Schlager star Helene Fischer - has been creating new dimensions. As the centerpiece, the Großes Haus can seat over 6,100 visitors and can be used multifunctionally: for concerts, TV productions, trade fairs and exhibitions, shows and lectures, for presentations, events and sports highlights. Technically, the new hall is a masterpiece. It combines modern event technology with perfect infrastructure for every type of event. For example, it is easily possible for a rock concert to take place in the Großes Haus while the Hof Symphony Orchestra plays in the Festsaal - without any mutual interference.

As the largest event hall in the region, hosting over 90 percent of all major events, the Freiheitshalle attracts more than 300,000 visitors with about 250 events per year. While the Großes Haus, with its area of 2429 square meters, can hold up to 6100 visitors, the Festsaal, with its area of 812 square meters, can accommodate 760 guests.

In the meeting and conference area, which is very well utilized, rooms ranging in size from 100 to 261 square meters have been created. In addition to meetings and seminars, individual events are also held here in an exclusive atmosphere, such as VIP receptions or after-show parties. A direct connection also provides quick access to the neighboring 4-star Hotel Central.
