Evi and Arnold Schaller celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary

The Schaller couple can look back on 60 years together.

Mayor Angela Bier visited the couple in person last Saturday to convey the congratulations of the city of Hof. The celebrations took place with the family, including their two children Jutta Weber and Jürgen Schaller.

Arnold Schaller once proposed to Evi after picking her up from work: on the Jenasteg in Hof. Both were very active both professionally and voluntarily: after his time in the army, Arnold Schaller passed his master butcher's examination and worked in leading butcher's shops in Hof. Meanwhile, Evi Schaller ran a small store selling sausage products in her own home.

Over the years, Arnold Schaller rose through the ranks in the industry and became plant manager, managing director and finally managing chairman of the board at the Hof abattoir. His commitment to the new building at Hohensaas in particular remains unforgotten.

He also spent 30 years as head of the roller-skating department at the Hof swimming club and was highly committed to the sport.

Today, the couple are enjoying their well-earned retirement, spending vacations together and tending to the garden in the backyard, which has become a small blooming oasis with the help of their grandchildren.
