The House Theresienstein

It looks like a castle and stands there like a castle – but it isn’t one.

A castle-like building full of playfulness, a house from the turn of the century with an interestingly divided roof with towers and delicately designed facades; next to it a magnificent music pavilion: the House Theresienstein.

The striking Art Nouveau building in the Hofer town park is a gem of first order. It never was a castle even if it looks like one. After the gradual expansion of the park in the beginning of the 19th century, a central building was absolutely necessary pretty soon.

Erected in 1904 as a commercial building, today it houses an elegant lounge and an art gallery. Concerts and exhibitions take place there; you can get married and celebrate there, too.

The House Theresienstein also is an entrance to the park. From here on it’s only a few steps to the botanical garden and the zoo so you can easily go on a stroll.

During the summer months you can have a genuine Hofer snack in a beer garden and enjoy the terrific view over the town. Families can let their children play without worrying.

“Concerts on the promenade” take place there every Sunday during the summer. The shade of the trees is not a bad place to relax.

Promenade music in the parc Theresienstein

From may to august there are every sunday free concerts in the park. At 11 o'clock alternating bands and musicians are playing at the bandstand.
