Hofer symphonic orchestra

Becoming ECHO-awardee in 2011 with soft music

The Hofer symphonic orchestra stands for excellent classical music as well as experimental contemporary music.

The Hofer symphonic orchestra was founded in 1945 and has established itself in the Bavarian and German cultural life. Besides own concert series and its responsibility at the Hofer Theater (with opera, operetta, musical and ballet), the Hofer symphonic orchestra guests in numerous venues all over Germany and is regularly invited to big festivals like the Thurn and Taxis festival in Regensburg.

Internationally renowned artists like Elina Garanca, Jonas Kaufmann, Hilary Hahn, Peter Sadlo, Baiba Skride and Alice Sara Ott appear on stage with the Hofer symphonic orchestra again and again. The orchestra was guest in many TV productions of the ARD and ZDF and gave concerts at many of the most famous venues in Germany among others in the Gewandhaus in Leipzig, the Alte Oper in Frankfurt and the Konzerthaus in Berlin at the Gendarmenmarkt.

Honorary conductor Enoch zu Guttenberg participates actively in the artistic development of the orchestra. The Swiss conductor Daniel Klajner was named first guest conductor from the beginning of the concert season of 2010/2011. The Hofer symphonic orchestra and he are connected by a collaboration of many years.

The Hofer symphonic orchestra is also an important cultural and training center in Bavaria with its own and German-wide unique music school, a Suzuki-academy and a school of arts.

This sustainable commitment to the artistic education was honored with the ECHO classic special price for the support of young talents in October 2010 and with the culture award of the Bavarian Landesstiftung in 2010. Additionally, the culture and training center was awarded the culture price by E.ON Bavaria AG.
