City of Hof receives federal funding for Grüne Au

Grant notification for around 4.6 million euros for the renovation of the Grüne Au stadium received

An important step for the sports city of Hof

As part of the federal program "Renovation of municipal facilities in the areas of sport, youth and culture" of the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Construction, the renovation and replacement construction of the Grüne Au stadium operations building is being funded with up to 4,621,125 euros. This corresponds to 75% of the estimated total costs of 6,161,500 euros. The Upper Franconia Foundation is also contributing 973,200 euros to the project.

Scope of the construction and renovation measures

In addition to the regular matches of the first team of SpVgg Bayern Hof, the stadium is a central location for the training and match operations of the youth section. Every week, hundreds of children and young people from Hof and the region use the Grüne Au for sporting activities. It also serves as a sports facility for the Christian Wolfrum School and is regularly used for tournaments, school sports festivals and other major sporting events. The refurbishment and replacement construction of the operations building includes, among other things

Refurbishment of the electrical and sanitary infrastructure
Energy-efficient renovation of windows and façade
Adaptation of the changing room sizes to modern standards
Installation of a ventilation system in the changing rooms
Replacement of the heating system
Installation of an elevator to ensure accessibility
Installation of a photovoltaic system
Renewal of the lighting
Improvement of preventive fire protection and the escape and rescue route situation

These measures are aimed at increasing energy efficiency, improving accessibility and creating modern conditions for all users.

Attractive conditions for youth work

The Grüne Au is not only a place for sport, but also a social meeting place for children and young people. The renovation will help to create attractive and modern conditions for youth work. From the promotion of young talent in soccer to inclusive offers for young people with disabilities, the stadium will be strengthened as a platform for social exchange and integration. With an average of 1,000 spectators at SpVgg Bayern Hof's home matches and intensive use by youth teams and school sports, the Grüne Au stadium is one of the busiest sports facilities in the region. The planned measures ensure that the stadium will continue to meet these requirements in the future.

Timetable

The implementation of the project is planned as follows

2025: Commissioning of the planning team for the execution phase and start of construction
2027: Completion and inauguration of the building

Parallel to the renovation of the stadium, the development of Willy-Brandt-Allee will take place in order to designate an adjacent building area with around 15 building plots. For this purpose, the budget has an expenditure reserve of 850,000 euros as well as 280,000 euros for necessary adjustments to the wastewater disposal system, which are planned for the 2025 financial year.

History of the Grüne Au

The stadium was built in 1913 on land leased from FC Bayern Hof and acquired by the club in 1930. It has been owned by the city of Hof since 1980. With a capacity of 8,100, it is the largest stadium in the city and serves as the home ground of SpVgg Bayern Hof. The attendance record was set on May 22, 1968 with 19,100 spectators at the Bundesliga promotion round match against Rot-Weiss Essen.

Attraktive Bedingungen für die Jugendarbeit

Die Grüne Au ist nicht nur ein Ort des Sports, sondern auch ein sozialer Treffpunkt für Kinder und Jugendliche. Die Sanierung wird dazu beitragen, attraktive und moderne Rahmenbedingungen für die Jugendarbeit zu schaffen. Von der Nachwuchsförderung im Fußball bis hin zu inklusiven Angeboten für junge Menschen mit Beeinträchtigungen wird das Stadion als Plattform für sozialen Austausch und Integration gestärkt. Mit durchschnittlich 1.000 Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauern bei den Heimspielen der SpVgg Bayern Hof sowie dem intensiven Nutzungsbetrieb durch Jugendmannschaften und Schulsport ist das Stadion Grüne Au eine der meistfrequentierten Sportstätten der Region. Die geplanten Maßnahmen gewährleisten, dass das Stadion diesen Anforderungen auch in Zukunft gerecht wird.

Fahrplan

Die Umsetzung des Projekts ist wie folgt geplant:

2025: Beauftragung des Planungsteams für die Ausführungsphase und Baubeginn
2027: Fertigstellung und Einweihung des Gebäudes

Parallel zur Sanierung des Stadions wird die Erschließung der Willy-Brandt-Allee erfolgen, um ein angrenzendes Baugebiet mit rund 15 Bauplätzen auszuweisen. Dafür stehen im Haushalt ein Ausgaberest von 850.000 Euro sowie 280.000 Euro für notwendige Anpassungen an der Abwasserbeseitigung zur Verfügung, die im Haushaltsjahr 2025 vorgesehen sind.

Das Stadion wurde 1913 auf einem vom FC Bayern Hof gepachteten Gelände errichtet und 1930 vom Verein erworben. Seit 1980 befindet es sich im Eigentum der Stadt Hof. Mit einer Kapazität von 8.100 Plätzen ist es das größte Stadion der Stadt und dient als Heimspielstätte der SpVgg Bayern Hof. Der Zuschauerrekord wurde am 22. Mai 1968 mit 19.100 Besuchern beim Bundesliga-Aufstiegsrundenspiel gegen Rot-Weiss Essen aufgestellt.
